Washington County Divorce Records

When a couple legally divorces, in Washington County, the court establishes an official case file that becomes part of the court records. Divorce cases are handled by the domestic relations divisions of the Circuit Court, with all records stored by the Washington County Circuit Clerk.

The final divorce decree is the most commonly requested document and serves as legal proof that a marriage has been dissolved. Other files include the original petition for divorce, the other party's response, temporary and final orders regarding property division, and, where children are involved, custody and support arrangements.

Divorce records are generally considered public records in Arkansas, accessible under the FOIA and Administrative Order No. 19. However, sensitive financial documents or sealed portions may be restricted. Copies of a divorce decree certificate can be obtained from the Washington County Circuit Clerk's Office, or case information can be viewed online via the ARCourts portal.
